Description


Stranger Things VR is a psychological horror/action game based on the Stranger Things TV show. In the game the player takes on the role of Vecna as he tries to corrupt the minds of Will and the other kids in Hawkins. The player uses vines that act as grappling hooks to travel through different unknown realities, and uses telekinesis to battle against the creatures living in the Upside Down.


What I Did


- Helped the primary writer rework parts of the game script to be written for an interative project.

- Designed scary moments and implemented them throughout the experience.

- Designed and developed a portion of the game in which the player uses a View Finder to teleport between different scary scenes.

- Worked with the sound designer to implement sound across the project.


Important Thing I Learned


I learned the importance of having strong design pillars and a strong central game design idea when working with a larger team. The structure of this project gave individual designers a lot of freedom to design without having checks to make sure everyone was working towards make the same game. While this was great for allowing designers to act without being hindered by oversight, it also contributed to a lack of cohesivity in the final project.
